2017 World Championship

The SSCA can announce that following post event checks all cars have now passed technical scrutineering and #306 Daniel Parker is confirmed as the winner.  Congratulations to Daniel, and to all drivers for their efforts during a memorable weekend.

At the conclusion of the race meeting at Cowdenbeath on Saturday 19 August 2017, the SSCA Technical Scrutineers were unable to clarify the origin of the carburettor insulator block on the #306 car to ensure it complied with the 2017 SSCA Technical Specifications.

Under the VIOLATIONS section of the Specifications, the component was marked and retained, for a period of up to seven days, during which time further investigations were undertaken to establish the identity of the component.  The driver was given seven days to prove to the SSCA that the part was legal.

Whilst initial information supplied did not prove the legality of the relevant part, further investigation by the SSCA Technical Scrutineers has confirmed that the part in question does comply to the 2017 Technical Specifications.

However the rarity of the item, its availability in the UK and the difficulty in cross referencing part numbers, contributed to the delay in achieving a full identification of the component.

Due to the scarce availability of this component in the UK, it will be expressly outlawed in the 2018 Technical Specifications.
