2022 World Final Qualifying

Drivers are reminded that the primary purposes of the unloaded 7.3 Saloon Stock Car World Rankings are:

  1. To determine the 24 English and Scottish qualifiers for each year’s World Championship Final.
  2. To ensure that drivers in the Top 24 of the World Rankings chart hold a grade of Blue or higher.

In the calculation of World Rankings, it is customary for World Ranking points earned from attendance and performance at Championship and World Ranking events to count towards one (and only one) World Championship Final grid.

Hence, on occasions where two editions of the same Championship or World Ranking event occur in the period between World Championship cut-off dates (typically 20 July or 20 August), World Ranking points from both editions remain ‘live’ and will count towards the World Championship Final grid.

Conversely, when an edition of a Championship or World Ranking event has already counted towards a World Championship Final grid, it will not count towards the following year’s World Championship Final grid regardless of whether the next edition of that event has been staged in the meantime.

For the avoidance of doubt, this means that the following Championships and World Ranking events are expected to count towards the 2022 World Championship Final grid (based on the fixtures announced to date):

  • 2021 and 2022 European Championship
  • 2021 World Championship
  • 2021 UK Superbowl
  • 2021 ORC Championship
  • 2021 and 2022 Irish Open
  • 2021 and 2022 Irish Masters
  • 2022 British Championship
  • 2022 Scottish Championship
  • 2022 UK Championship
  • 2022 English Championship
  • 2022 National Championship
