Technical Infringements Update

The SSCA has been made aware that there were a variety of technical issues on some Saloon Stock Cars that raced at Smeatharpe Stadium, Taunton on Monday 17 May 2021.  These issues ranged from easily rectified items, to matters of far greater significance.

Further information will be gathered at the National Championship weekend at the same venue this Saturday (22 May) and Sunday (23 May) and infringements will see drivers receiving a written Technical Notification the following week, detailing how long they will have to rectify the issues or whether their future bookings are cancelled until items are corrected.

However, the SSCA’s immediate concern relates to cars where the front struts were mounted incorrectly. The Technical Specifications are clear – if it does not say you can do it, YOU CANNOT. Permission has never been sought to mount the front struts any other way than as standard to a Ford Sierra. Whilst non-standard strut tops have until 2022 to be corrected, the strut MUST be mounted as standard. The SSCA’s stance on this is clear – if a driver’s car does not conform, then do not travel to this weekend’s National Championship as the car will not be permitted to race.
